Zero Wear, Clean Transport:

How PUCEST Material Handling Optimizes a Weighing Conveyor

A typical scenario in the day-to-day operations of the bulk materials industry: High abrasion wears down the side guides of a weighing conveyor belt, while material continuously leaks out at the same time. The consequences are not only high maintenance costs and expensive downtime, but also significant losses of valuable bulk material. Detlef Bauer, owner of PUCEST protect GmbH, describes a specific customer case in which this very problem was permanently resolved.

“In addition to the enormous wear on the existing guides, the constant loss of material was the customer’s biggest challenge,” explains Detlef Bauer. “Spilled bulk material contaminates the entire system and leads to unnecessary material loss.” The solution was to replace the old seals with a custom-designed PUCEST material guide made of highly wear-resistant plastic.

The retrofit was carried out on-site in a few structured steps:

  • Preparation: Thorough cleaning of the affected areas of the plant to create a clean work surface.

  • Surface preparation: Sanding the mounting surfaces to remove existing material residues and unevenness.

  • Adjustment: Precise alignment and cutting of the PUCEST material guide directly on the weighing conveyor.

  • Securing: Securely bolting the segments in place to ensure a permanently stable fit.

  • Commissioning: Final test run under actual load for fine-tuning.

The results speak for themselves in practice: Material leakage has been completely eliminated, and wear on the side guides has been reduced to a minimum. The weighing conveyor now operates consistently cleanly, efficiently, and with minimal maintenance.
